Abstract
This review article thoroughly examines research undertaken in Turkey to investigate the effects on individuals' self-perception and social anxiety levels during adolescence. While adolescence is a vital stage in an individual's identity formation process, the number of research focused on the contributions of family ties to this process has expanded in recent years. This review examined 100 distinct research publications using the document review method and summarises the findings.
The findings of the analysis indicate that descriptive research has dominated the majority of the research done in Turkey during the past ten years. A supportive atmosphere offered by families to teenagers boosts their self-esteem and lowers their levels of social anxiety, according to evidence from these studies. It is specifically claimed that fostering a culture in which families do not practise gender discrimination and in which emotional manifestations of any gender are allowed has a good impact on teenagers' sense of self-worth.
In conclusion, this review article emphasises the value of family relationships by emphasising the psychosocial development of people during adolescence and discussing how families can help adolescents develop a healthy sense of self and lower their levels of social anxiety during this crucial time. It is advised to conduct more research in this area and create teaching programmes for families.
