Abstract

In this research, it is aimed to examine the health conditions, eating habits, attitudes towards organ donation and to determine the quality of life of elderly people who receive services from the Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality Uluçınarlar Elderly Life and Solidarity Center and to determine the quality of life of elderly people. Within the scope of this purpose, questions such as the attitudes of the elderly towards organ donation, the differentiation of their attitudes according to various variables (gender, age, educational status, health / disease status, etc.), health status of individuals, eating habits, quality of life and quality of life according to gender and depression levels were sought.

The cross-sectional study was conducted with individuals aged 60 years and over who receive services from Kayseri Municipality Uluçınarlar Elderly Living and Solidarity Centre.  In the research, the sample group was not selected and it was aimed to reach the entire group on a voluntary basis. Face to face interview method was used in the research. Descriptive information, attitudes towards organ donation and health information of the individuals were questioned with a questionnaire form prepared by the researcher.

They were considering organ donation in the future 21.7% of individuals stated, 20.0% were uncertain about organ donation, and 58.3% stated that they were not considering organ donation. The rate of depression in women was significantly higher than in men (p<0.001). The rate of depression in individuals who did not have regular breakfast habits was significantly higher than those with regular breakfast habits (p<0.05). The rate of depression was found to be significantly higher in the elderly with hypertension than in those without hypertension (p<0.05).
