Evaluation of Health Technology Perceptions of Healthcare Professionals

Abstract

Health technology can be defined as all technological processes that enable the implementation of all kinds of health-related systems, methods, practices and techniques with the help of health equipment and medicines in the production, presentation and final stages of health services. The research was conducted to evaluate the health technology perceptions of healthcare professionals. This descriptive study was conducted with 438 healthcare professionals working in a state hospital in Central Anatolia. The data of the study were collected with the socio-demographic information form prepared by the researchers and the Health Personnel Health Technology Evaluation Attitude Scale (SPSTAT). SPSS/20.0 program was used to evaluate the data. In the study, 62.6% of the healthcare professionals were female, 20.3% were physicians and 48.9% were nurses. A statistically significant difference was found between the marital status of the healthcare workers and the awareness sub-dimension of the SPSTST, and between their educational status and occupation and the sub-dimensions of the SPSTST (p<0.05). Accordingly, it was determined that the health technology assessment perceptions of single health workers and physicians with postgraduate education level were significantly higher. In line with these results, it is recommended to organize in-house trainings to increase the perceptions of healthcare professionals in health technology assessment.
